Re-enchanting Time: A Primer on How Christ’s Lordship Re-enchants Time-Keeping by Josh Robinson
You should get this book. It is a perfect application of the concept of true magic.
You can read this little book in a single sitting—and you should. Josh makes a simple, biblical case for the church’s duty of advancing Christ’s reign over time as well as space. He shows how Christians have been seated as lights in the heavenly places to exercise dominion over times and seasons. He explains what this means, and how popular objections betray secular presuppositions about the limits of Christ’s authority. And he joins practice to doctrine by giving us his own church’s liturgical calendar. Re-enchanting Time is a blessing to the ongoing project of re-enchanting Reformed Christianity, and taking back the world from the “Enlightenment.”
Full disclosure: I read the manuscript for this book and made a lot of editing suggestions.
